Ideki Services Limited has said it has set out to stem the dearth of materials for the construction of roads and bridges in the Niger Delta region.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ideki Services Limited, Sir Henry Amiesimaka, made the declaration in Port Harcourt at the inauguration of state-of-the-art dredger, MV Ideki.

Amiesimaka noted that most of the dredgers in the South-south region were either refurbished or out-dated, making it difficult for people in the construction business to have access to sand, one of the necessary materials for construction.

He said he was set to change the situation as the new Ellicot 1870 Dragon Dredge with normal pump capacity of 920 cubic metres per hour commenced work.

“Most of the dredgers in Port Harcourt and environs are either refurbished or out of date. That makes the construction business very difficult. So, we saw the need for good equipment that will stand the test of time. We also wish to contribute our quota to the vision of government to help make sharp sand readily available,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Heritage Bank for funding the project and assisting the company to impact positively on the lives of people in the region.

He disclosed that there were only six dredgers of that capacity in the country and called for more investors in that area to ensure the availability of construction materials in the country.

Giving the specifications of the vessel, Principal Consultant to the firm, Mr. Deji Mustapha, said the Ellicot 1870 Dragon Dredge was equipped with two engines: Cat 3512 main engine and C32 auxiliary engine, with one kilometre pipeline.

He also disclosed that the vessel was fitted with safety features to ensure safe operations.

“In event of any danger, the auxiliary engine will automatically shut down to avoid any catastrophe or danger,” he said.

Group Head, South-south, Heritage Bank, Mr. Anieke, said the bank decided to fund the project as a means of impacting positively on society.

He expressed confidence that the firm would live up to expectations and would pioneer many other services that would assist in the development of the region.
