August 25, 2015In order to ensure improved healthcare service delivery in Rivers state, the Rivers State Government has called for synergy between professional bodies in the health sector in the state.
The state Governor Nyesom Wike made this appeal at the 2015 Dinner and Award Night of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at the Glass House Event Centre, Port Harcourt.
The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo said the present administration is committed to ensuring that healthcare service in the state is efficient.
In his words “Government is committed to restoring back confidence by supporting the medical practitioners in any way possible to ensure that they maintain professional excellence, and in return win the confidence of the peopleâ€.
He however reiterated the government’s commitment towards providing optimal training of residence doctors, establishment of medical schools, science and health Technology University, improved welfare for doctors and payment of outstanding entitlements of the medical doctors.

It’s time when we need to put back compassion, empathy, win the confidence of our people, so that patients can look up to us and believe that they could walk into the hand of a Doctor and get betterâ€
