Over the past decade, the SDG’s Alliance has been your platform for driving sustainable development in Nigeria, especially in Rivers State in the Niger Delta region, where their impact has been profound. As a coalition of young individuals, leaders, and change-makers committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), their journey has been one of resilience and impactful action.
Operating across all 36 states, your focus on the Niger Delta, particularly Rivers State, has yielded significant social impact. From celebrating major international days through advocacy, webinars, and free medical services to conducting extensive training programs in over 30 schools and reaching out to 15,000 pupils, your efforts have been diverse and far-reaching.
Despite challenges such as the lack of widespread knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs , among individuals and communities, they have celebrated notable victories in the lives they have touched, impacted, and educated through their advocacy efforts. These successes are a testament to their dedication, as well as the support of team members, partners, donors, and sponsors over the years.
Looking ahead, they recognize the importance of policy changes and improvements at the government level to further support your mission. They are advocating for the inclusion of SDGs in the education curriculum of all tertiary institutions, believing that widespread knowledge about sustainable development principles will catalyze positive change in homes, cities, and the environment.
Among their numerous projects, a few stand out as emblematic of your commitment to sustainable development. The “Own a School” project required advocates to visit schools and educate students on the SDGs, while the establishment of SDG clubs in schools across the Niger Delta fostered discussions and initiatives aimed at improving society.
