January 23, 2014The World Bank, other development partners and the European Union, EU, have provided the sum of $300m for the implementation of the State Employment and Expenditure for Results, SEEFOR, project in the country.
The SEEFOR, which has a five-year implementation timeline for its completion, was initiated by the World Bank about three years ago but effectively kicked off last July in four pilot states of Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta, was initiated to improve the living conditions of the Niger Delta area. According to the the Secretary to the National Planning Commission, Mr. Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Â the project was aimed at enhancing opportunities for employment, especially among the youths; and improving public financial management in SEEFOR beneficiary states.
