The Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development Initiative (NCHCDI) Training run on the back of offshore scope of the Escravos Export System Project (EESP) commenced on Monday April 03, 2017 at the DeltaAfrik Headquarters, Lekki Lagos with the onboarding of 18 Nigerian graduates from different   Engineering disciplines.

The Escravos Export System Project Human Capacity Development training covers such areas as Process, Pipeline, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Control, Civil and Structural, Project Management, Procurement / Subcontracting and Entrepreneurship. The training, sponsored by the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture, is being implemented in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). It will span 25 months of intensive classroom and on-the-job training.

Mr Andrew Omomehin, General Manager, FE&MCP represented by Mr Brian Patterson, Manager, Major Capital Projects emphasized that Human Capacity Development is a key objective Chevron continues to pursue over the years leveraging on major capital projects to develop people’s skills and competencies. He noted that the hands-on training covered in this EESP training scope would provide a veritable springboard for successful career development for the budding engineering professionals.

“From my experience, I can assure you that this ground level training will certainly help you cement the classroom lectures you have received. It is necessary as trainees given such rare opportunity that you take the training seriously,” he said, adding that the 25 months duration is long enough to widely expose trainees from the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to the execution stages with assurance that trainees would come out a lot better than they started off.
