August 22, 2014The 2nd batch of the Abia State Skill Acquisition Programme beneficiaries had their graduation ceremony in Umuahia on Friday 15th August 2015 at the Abia State Skill Acquisition Centre Umuahia.
According to Governor T.A Orji, through this Skill Acquisition Programme, more than 1,500 new entrepreneurs have emerged and several job opportunities accessed from ancillary larger Firms.
The program in its last 2 batches operated with students accepted for a six-month free intensive course training (10, 000 Naira monthly stipend paid to beneficiaries), who graduated as certified entrepreneurs.
The major areas of training were in business economic and accounting principles, with specialization to undertake and manage specific businesses in Fashion Designing, Event Management, Fashion Beads designing, Poultry and Fishery farming, Computer Training operation, Photography/Video, Catering/Hotel Management and Beauty Therapy.
All trainees that graduate from these programs are given start-up capital, business related equipments, generator sets and lap-tops, so that they can run efficient private businesses.
