March 17, 2015In order to improve the health care sector in the state, the Abia state governor, Theodore Orji has commissioned a mother and child ward as well as the administrative complex his government built at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH).
The governor said health and security remained the topmost priority of his administration and he is determined to do his best in the sectors.
He added that his administration had invested significant sums in the two sectors.
“It is only a healthy person that can appreciate the dividends of democracy while nothing can be achieved in an atmosphere of insecurity,” said Orji.
He stated that the two structures commissioned would add value to the health sector, disclosing that his government was also building an amphitheatre in the teaching hospital.
Orji maintained that his administration has done well in the area of health having built about 750 health centres, a diagnostic hospital in Aba and Umuahia, ultra-modern dialysis and eye centres to ensure that the people of the state are healthy.
He said the attention being given to ABSUTH is to make the hospital a complex where all facilities will be located under one complex.
He thus urged people to take advantage by making use of the health facility at ABSUTH.
