Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), the operator of the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture, says it has trained 14 Nigerians in support of the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development Initiative (NCHCDI).

Mr Esimaje Brikinn, the company General Manager Policy (Government and Public Affairs Department), said the programme was executed in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

Brikinn in a statement in Lagos said the training in which N300 million had been committed since 2015 was part of CNL’s efforts to assist in building organisational capability in the oil and gas industry.

According to him, the programme covers training in Earth Science, Reservoir Management as well as Drilling and Completions.

Mr Jeffrey Ewing, the CNL Chairman and Managing Director, was quoted as saying that the collaboration had yielded positive results.

Ewing, who was represented at the event by Mr Olusoga Oduselu, the CNL General Manager, Nigerian Content Development, said: “Chevron prides itself in building human capacity in Nigeria and in Nigerians.”

He said CNL’s support for Nigerian content development had gone beyond the implementation of the provisions of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.

He congratulated the interns for successfully completing the 12-month programme.

Mr Simbi Kesiye Wabote, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, thanked CNL for its consistent support to NCDMB’s numerous initiatives.

“Chevron has been fantastic in its collaboration with the NCDMB, not only in the implementation of the NCHCDI programmes but in other initiatives of the board.”

Efe Akpovwovwo, one of the beneficiaries of the programme, was said to have thanked CNL and NCDMB for the opportunity.

He said that the training had enabled him to acquire high-level technical skills in the oil and gas industry.
