The 2025 cohort of the Social Accountability Fellowship (SAF) is now open for applications. This initiative seeks to empower a new generation of civic actors in Ondo State to lead efforts in transparency, public accountability, and inclusive governance at the grassroots level.
The SAF is part of the SPATS (Strengthening Participation, Accountability, and Transparency in States) project and is funded by the European Union, under the WYDE Civic Engagement framework. The program is implemented by ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy, in collaboration with Elbarlament, People in Need, and the European Partnership for Democracy.
About the Fellowship
The Social Accountability Fellowship offers emerging civic leaders the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of governance systems, participate in real-world accountability projects, and collaborate with peers and experts across civil society and government institutions.
Throughout the program, fellows will:
- Receive structured training on civic engagement, public policy, and advocacy
- Implement community-based initiatives to promote transparency and youth participation
- Gain mentorship from leading practitioners in governance and development
- Join a growing network of civic innovators committed to grassroots transformation
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to youth between the ages of 18 and 35 who reside in Ondo State and demonstrate a strong commitment to public service, civic action, or policy advocacy.
Applicants should:
- Be passionate about citizen participation and social accountability
- Have experience working in their communities or youth organizations (formal or informal)
- Be willing to actively participate in all stages of the fellowship program
