HIV/AIDS EDUCATION AND MANAGEMENT
The program on HIV/AIDS, STDs etc will focus on educating the youth on self-worth. HIV/AIDS prevention and consequences. Emphasis will centre on preventive measures, small group discussion, use of audio-video tapes are made to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS and its spread.
Mission/Vision
Society is paying lip service to the plight of the adolescent youth. There is total neglect as communities have remained in abject poverty without adequate means of livelihood and good living conditions.
Adolescent Development Network is a private and voluntary Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. ADNET is involved in a collaborative working relationship with Government and private Agencies, other NGOS, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Youth and women groups, co-operative societies etc towards improving their socio-economic well-being.
Indeed, ADNET was established to promote:HIV/AIDS Education
- Better reproductive health methodologies
- Integrated and participatory development efforts through some innovative ideas. Collaborative work with government and private agencies, WHO, UNESCO, UNICEF and other NGOs to enhance qualitative life, Youth Advocacy and Community Empowerment.
- Micro-credit system and mobilization of rural savings for proper management of revolving loan scheme.
- Micro-enterprises scheme to improve income generating activities
- Establishment and management of skills acquisition programs for self-improvement of the adolescent youth.
What does the organization do?

2. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION PROJECT
ADNET’S education project on Reproductive Health involves family planning strategies and awareness building. There is an action plan towards providing practical training schemes on the application of contraceptives and family planning methodologies.
This will focus on the improvement of the environment through environmental health initiatives, especially in rural communities to improve public health.
The socio-economic situation of our people has necessitate strategies aimed at reducing stressful conditions that seem to perpetuate poverty. Rural savings and credit schemes are poverty eradication programs at the community level. It ensures the mobilization of savings and disbursement of loans to eligible beneficiaries towards meeting set goals. We manage micro-credit and administer same to low income earners.
5 SKILLSACQUISITION/ON-THE-JOB TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
ADNET provides skills acquisition scheme that enhances the technical competence of the youth. The on-the-job technical assistance it intended to reinforce the skills so acquired. The technical assistance will be a kind phase in and phase out program aimed at assisting the individuals and micro enterprises at sites.
Professional and technical assistance are provided directly to individual owners of micro-enterprises by way of training etc. We empower them to mobilize savings and access credit for their business and to keep financial records. The micro-enterprises scheme will enable local organizations and individuals to acquire relevant skills and capabilities in micro-enterprises management, fund raising, monitoring and evaluation and reporting.
Here is intended to create greater awareness on the rights of the youth and women. Group discussion will help to share experience and expose them. Adult education will enhance higher levels of development. Working in collaboration with UNICEF, UNESCO etc will better training that will empower them to improve quality of life.
8, GENERAL RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION
To conduct research on youth activities and document same for further use and application. The research will help in keeping a data bank of adolescent problems and issues. Solutions can be proffered to alleviate their plight .
PARTNERSHIP
ADNET is collaborating with Teachers Without Borders-international in the following areas:
-HIV/AIDS education for youth organization, schools and clubs.
-Adolescent education for students of secondary and other tertiary institutions.
Promoting formation of information communication technology ( ICT) for clubs in secondary schools and religious organizations
promoting Adolsecents Camps, for Moral Education, Sexual Educationand Leadership.
