NDDC Reaffirms Commitment to Sickle Cell Awareness
February 10, 2026The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced the discovery of a new oil well, Awodi-07, located in the shallow offshore western Niger Delta.
In a statement issued by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, the company congratulated Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) on the successful drilling of the Awodi-07 appraisal and exploration well, noting that Chevron operates the asset under the NNPC Ltd/CNL Joint Venture arrangement.
NNPC Ltd said the Awodi-07 well was drilled as part of the joint venture’s ongoing exploration programme aimed at further delineating and unlocking hydrocarbon potential within its asset portfolio. According to the company, drilling operations commenced in late November 2025 and were concluded in mid-December 2025, with all drilling, testing, and data acquisition activities carried out safely and in line with approved regulatory and operational standards.
The company explained that following detailed testing, logging, and evaluation, the well was safely secured, marking the successful completion of the drilling programme. NNPC Ltd described the outcome of the well as highly encouraging, confirming the presence of hydrocarbons across multiple reservoir zones and reinforcing confidence in the prospectivity of the area.
