Edo State Residents Benefit from PIND-Okomu Peace and Development Initiative
February 10, 2026The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) and Saroafrica Nigeria Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on strengthening agricultural value chains and expanding economic opportunities for smallholder farmers and youth.
The partnership combines PIND’s experience in market systems development with Saroafrica’s agribusiness services, including seeds and crop protection. The collaboration will focus on improving access to quality inputs, enhancing farm productivity, and supporting climate-smart agricultural practices.
Planned activities include piloting last-mile input distribution models such as cooperative-led supply systems and youth-managed agro-dealerships, as well as exploring financing approaches that reduce risk for smallholder farmers.
The MoU also includes support for sustainability and traceability in key value chains, particularly cocoa, in line with emerging global standards such as the EU Deforestation Regulation.
Implementation will be guided by a joint steering committee to coordinate activities and align priorities. While the agreement does not include financial commitments, it provides a framework for developing scalable initiatives across agriculture and youth employment.
