The Markets Development (MD) Project is one of the major projects of the Economic Development Program area of PIND. It focuses on increasing the income of farmers and enterprises in the Niger Delta by designing and implementing interventions to address systemic constraints that prevent them from taking advantage of viable market opportunities to increase their income. This contributes to PIND’s goal of reducing poverty in the Niger Delta by designing and implementing interventions geared towards increasing the income of poor farmers and enterprises in the region.

Five key market system focused sub-projects are currently being implemented in the market development project. The projects cover interventions in four key agricultural value chains in the Niger Delta (Aquaculture, Cassava, Cocoa and Palm Oil) to unlock pro-poor opportunities and stimulating growth in these sectors.
