March 5, 2015A total of N17,009,100 has been distributed to 564 youths in Edo state as part of the savings made during the period they were engaged under Phase I of the Youth Employment Sub-Component of the Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Result, SEEFOR Project.
Each beneficiary received cumulative 15 percent savings of the period they worked in addition to their monthly stipend in accordance with the Project guidelines on Public Works, says Mr. Taiwo Akerele, Project Coordinator of the Edo SEEFOR Project. He also stated that the state government has concluded arrangements to provide training for the beneficiaries on entrepreneurial skills development.
He noted that the first batch of 564 consisting of 142 male and 426 female who were engaged in February 2014 have just graduated from the project to create further opportunity for other Edo youths.
Mr. Akerele maintained that about 700 are currently still engaged under the phase II and Waste Evacuation sub-component, stressing that those who have been engaged have the opportunity to earn money to cater for their families.
Commending the donor partners and Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole for providing the funding for sustenance of the project, Mr. Akerele said through phase I alone, over 2,145 dependants were touched.
