September 15, 2014THE National Council on Communication Technology (NCCT), constituted by the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, has commenced its third regular meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The meeting aims to deliberate, appraise and agree on the way forward on leveraging information and communication technology (ICT) for the transformation of Nigeria into a digital economy.
According to a statement this publication obtained from the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, the theme for the meeting of the council is, “Mainstreaming ICT in National Development: Moving from Talk to Action.”
“The meeting is expected to, among other things review various actions taken by members towards implementing decisions taken at the second (NCCT) held in Ondo State in August 2013.”
The Minister of Communication Technology, Omobola Johnson, who is the Chairperson of the Council, will chair the meeting.
The council is an all-inclusive national advisory body to Government on policies and strategies related to ICT.
It includes all commissioners in charge of ICT and Special Advisers on ICT from the 36 states.
