November 21, 2013NDDC flags on 3 road projects in Abia
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced the construction of a major inter-state road that would link Abia and Ebonyi States. The 15.5-kilometre Amaba-Ezere-Ozara-Acha-Ivo road with 2 bridges and 3 double culverts in Abia North Central district is one of the three new roads being executed by the Commission in Abia State.The other two roads flagged-on by Senator Uche Chukwumerije, are Lekwesi-Isiagu road and Ugwube-Nkwoagu-Mbala road.
Speaking during the event, Senator Chukwumerije, representing Abia North Senatorial District, said the roads would bring many blessings to his people, saying “We are lucky that the NDDC is executing these projects for usâ€.
He pledged to support NDDC to facilitate the early completion of the roads described as very important connection between two sister states.The host communities he said “are known for peace, so the contractor will not have any problemâ€.
NDDC Managing Director, Dr Christian Oboh, disclosed that big ticket projects would be given priority in the effort to rapidly transform the Niger Delta region.Dr. Oboh, who was represented by the Director, Abia State office of the Commission, Aniete Usen, urged the people to cooperate with the contractor to ensure that the project was completed on schedule.
Imo State representative on the Board of NDDC, Aloysius Nwagboso, who pledged continuous collaboration with members of the National Assembly, assured the people that the Commission would remain consistent in its determination to spread development to all parts of the Niger Delta region.Chairman, Isukwuato Local Government Area, Enyinnaya Nwosu, promised to assist the NDDC in monitoring the performance of the contractor. “These are good projects that have come to our place, so we have a duty to make sure that they are delivered on time,†he said.
