The Foundation for Partnership Initiative in the Niger Delta (PIND) is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a rapid assessment of agricultural value chains and required inputs in Host Communities Development Trusts (HCDTs) in Ugboland (Ondo State) and Egbema Opudis, Ogulagha, and Warri Coastal (Delta State). This initiative aims to identify viable agricultural value chains and enhance market linkages to improve smallholder farmers’ access to quality agricultural inputs.
Project Objective:
The consultant will be tasked with identifying two (2) viable agricultural value chains within these HCDT communities, assessing the input requirements necessary to enhance their productivity, and identifying opportunities to strengthen market linkages for improved input distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Map and assess agricultural value chains in selected HCDT communities
- Determine the most viable value chains based on economic potential, scalability, and market demand
- Identify and analyze the input needs (seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, mechanization, advisory services) to enhance productivity
- Identify gaps and key market players that can support the selected value chains
- Provide actionable recommendations for linking value chains with reliable input firms, agro-dealers, and service providers
