July 28, 2017PIND is a Nigerian non-profit Foundation established in 2010 to support a portfolio of socio-economic development programs for Nigeria’s Niger Delta in order to improve standards of living of communities in the region. PIND’s peacebuilding program provides operational-level support to PIND’s Partners for Peace (P4P) project and other donors and organizations in promoting peace, providing conflict mitigation support, capacity building and other peace building/conflict management support within the Niger Delta region. PIND also provides the Peace Map architecture to host the VAWG observatory that has helped to create the most extensive network of peace actors operating in the Niger Delta, known as the Partners for Peace (P4P) Network. Of this Network, nearly 40% are women and many are involved in initiatives that seek to fulfill the same key objectives of the NSRP VAWG Programme.
PIND is looking for a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Intern.
Location: Port Harcourt
Working with PIND Peacebuilding Unit, the VAWG intern will work to further the integrated mainstreaming of gender into PIND’s early warning and early response efforts within the Niger Delta.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Collect, collate, code and analyze VAWG incident reports through the P4P Network and upload the data onto the Peace Map using the NSRP VAWG platform.
2. Produce monthly memos and reports on relating to VAWG as well as on general conflict trends, in collaboration with PIND research unit.
3. Provide analysis of the predominant trends in VAWG across the nine Niger Delta states.
4. Liaise with key government institutions in the Niger Delta on utilizing VAWG data for policy.
5. Coordinate with P4P Network for daily tracking and collation of incidents of VAWG across the Niger Delta.
6. Promote VAWG program objectives, and encourage the sharing of comprehensive practices with respect to gender in early warning and response within the Niger Delta.
7. Support PIND to produce important source of ongoing information on VAWG patterns and trends
for VAWG advocacy.
8. Perform other related responsibilities as needed.
Qualification required
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge in the use of Microsoft office package including MS Word and Excel is essential.
- Knowledge of data analysis using appropriate software packages will be an added advantage.
- Fluent in written and spoken English language.
- Must possess excellent inter-personal relations skills, with appropriate documentation, data analysis, research and report writing skills
