Background of Project
- Save the Children is providing emergency food assistance through electronic vouchers to vulnerable households including both IDP and host community in Borno State, to increase access to food and mitigate the need for harmful negative coping mechanisms. The intervention is based on the ongoing Save the Children FFP food voucher program in MMC, Jere and Konduga LGAs with over 60,000 registered Households in 53 communities.
- Livelihoods restoration and economic recovery interventions will support vulnerable households who have been receiving food assistance through the Food for Peace Emergency Food Security project (EFSP) to steadily increase their income, build long-term food security, and improve their nutritional status
Objectives
- To provide income generation activity with the aim of increasing household income, restore the productive livelihoods of the conflict-affected households and support their sustainable graduation out of food assistance.
Target Beneficiaries:
- The Beneficiaries will comprise of current FFP project beneficiaries in Jere and MMC LGAs whose reduced coping strategies index falls under “none” category and who are eligible to receive livelihood support, based on additional selection criteria employed for scoring and selecting project beneficiaries
Scope of work
- The field assistants will be required to be actively involved in the implementation of the FFP Livelihood component. Which is providing livelihood intervention to Conflict-Affected IDPs and host communities in Maiduguri through e-voucher system. The field assistant will be actively involved in the monitoring of distributions of IGA materials at the vendor’s shops, conducting post-distribution monitoring (PDM), Sensitization of Beneficiaries, registration of beneficiaries, monitoring of livelihood activities at the community level and any other assign duties in relation to FFP program implementation.
Duration and Timeline:
- Distribution of IGAs to selected beneficiaries will be carried out once and other activities will be done in monthly basis within the time limit of the contract agreement.
- The project runs from June 03, 2019 and should end by September 30, 2019.
Accountability of SCI:
- Provide crowd control mechanisms to ensure smooth distribution
- Provide technical support and trainings.
- Ensure strict compliance to SCI Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
- Ensure strict compliance to SCI Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Policy
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations
Accountability by Field Assistants:
- Ensure strict compliance to SCI Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Policy
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations
- Ensure strict monitoring and supervision of all activities to be conducted.
- Ensure good quality IGA materials are supplied by the vendors during distribution
- Ensure strict compliance to SCI Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
Collaboration/Ethical and social operating standards:
- Working effectively with stakeholders to achieve common goals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills by all the Field Assistant
- Builds and maintains effective relationships, with the staff and beneficiaries
- Approachable, good listener, easy to talk.
- Protection of basic social rights of the SCI beneficiaries.
Payment:
- Payments will only be done at the end of every month, when the field assistant has successfully completed all the required duties assign to him/her satisfactory, based on the number of days worked.
Integrity:
- Honest, encourages openness and transparency, demonstrates the highest levels of integrity.
Qualification, Experience and Skill Requirements
- Ability to work under pressure, with little or no supervision
- Ability to speak the local languages
- Community engagement strategy
- Past experience dealing with Save the Children
- Degree, Diploma or HND in any relevant field
- Previous experience in an organization setting or other local and international NGOs
- Proven technical skills and intellectual capacity
