How Policy and Partnerships Can Strengthen Youth Capacity Building Across the Niger Delta
December 15, 2025In a bid to strengthen entrepreneurship, expand employment, and support business growth in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Young Professionals (NDYP) has announced the award of 650 grants to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the region. The initiative has also created 20,000 jobs and provided free mentorship programs to help young businesses scale.
The fifth edition of the Niger Delta MSME Summit brought together innovators, policymakers, and business leaders under the theme: “Enhancing the Role of MSMEs as a Driver of Sustainable Growth and Innovation.” NDYP Convener, Mr. Moses Siasia, highlighted the group’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs as change-makers and fostering sustainable growth in the region.
The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, reaffirmed the government’s support for initiatives that equip youth with skills, resources, and opportunities to thrive. Keynote speaker Dr. George Omoraro, CEO of Rage Media, encouraged participants to view challenges as opportunities, emphasizing the importance of self-education, principled action, and resilience as critical to success.
Through these grants and mentorship opportunities, NDYP is building a foundation for resilient businesses and inclusive economic development across the Niger Delta.
