October 18, 2024In a major boost for unemployed and underemployed youths in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno is set to launch the Arise Youth Employment Portal on Monday, October 21, 2024. The portal aims to provide a direct gateway to job opportunities and skills training, connecting youths with both the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Organized Private Sector. The virtual launch will take place at the State Executive Council Chambers, with citizens able to join online, marking a significant step towards reducing youth unemployment and empowering young people across the state.
The Arise Youth Employment Portal is designed to provide unemployed and underemployed youths in Akwa Ibom State with access to employment opportunities and training programs, facilitated by both the Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) and the Organized Private Sector (OPS). The platform will serve as a talent pool, enabling both public and private sectors to identify skilled youths for job placements.
The www.employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng, portal will allow applicants to create personal profiles with basic information, including names, passport photographs, phone numbers, email addresses, National Identification Numbers (NIN), Voter Identification Numbers (VIN), and educational qualifications. This data will assist employers in verifying applicants’ eligibility.
The portal will be open exclusively to Akwa Ibom indigenes who are unemployed or seeking new employment opportunities. It will serve as the official recruitment platform for several key programs, including the 5,000-youth empowerment initiative, which offers a N50,000 monthly stipend across the state’s 31 local government areas, the Dakkada Skill Acquisition Training Program, and the Ibom Community Watch (ICW) recruitment.
The launch of this platform fulfills that promise and underscores the Governor’s commitment to empowering Akwa Ibom youths with marketable skills and gainful employment. Additionally, the Governor has encouraged private companies operating in the state to utilize the portal for their recruitment needs.
This initiative represents a significant step in addressing youth unemployment and fostering collaboration between the government and the private sector to boost job creation in Akwa Ibom.
