May 23, 2025PIND Invites Proposals for Coastal Communities Off-Grid Energy Challenge Fund to Expand Renewable Energy Access in the Niger Delta
The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) invites qualified energy innovators and solution providers to submit proposals for its Coastal Communities Off-Grid Energy Challenge Fund. This initiative aims to accelerate the deployment of clean, affordable, and scalable off-grid energy systems in underserved coastal communities across the Niger Delta.
Despite its potential, the region’s coastal communities face significant energy deficits, relying on costly, unreliable fuel generators that hinder economic growth and limit access to essential services. Rising fuel prices further constrain productivity and sustainable development.
Building on its success with decentralized renewable energy solutions, including mini-grids and solar home systems, PIND is spearheading this challenge fund to promote innovative, market-driven energy models tailored to off-grid coastal needs.
The Challenge seeks to:
- Expand reliable electricity access through sustainable business models that reduce fossil fuel dependence
- Stimulate productive energy use in agriculture, MSMEs, and community services
- Strengthen critical infrastructure like healthcare, education, and digital connectivity
- Enhance community resilience and economic stability
- Foster partnerships among energy developers, investors, and local enterprises
PIND will support applicants with technical facilitation, resource mobilization, and community engagement to ensure practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions. Proposals must integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles, benefiting marginalized groups including women and persons with disabilities.
Qualified organizations are encouraged to review the Terms of Reference below and submit proposals by the deadline.
