February 29, 2024In an innovative effort to improve the lives women and girls in the Niger Delta, the Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN) has kicked its second batch of Digital skills training. This initiative aims to empower 1500 participants from Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, addressing longstanding economic challenges and gender inequalities in the region.
Supported by funding from the European Union, the Digital Skills Empowerment Project aims to transform opportunities for women and girls by exposing them to the Tech space. Through tailored training in Web Development, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, and product design, participants would gain essential skills for success in the digital economy.
Beyond technical skills, this project is about breaking down barriers and challenging societal norms. By raising awareness of the digital gender gap and advocating for policy changes, SDN is fostering inclusivity and equality. Women and girls would no longer limited by outdated stereotypes as they would be mentored to carve out paths in the tech industry and beyond.
The impact of this initiative goes beyond individual participants. By empowering women-owned businesses with digital tools, the project is driving economic growth and prosperity in the region. From small-scale enterprises to ambitious startups, women entrepreneurs would use the Digital Skills gotten skills to expand their businesses and create employment opportunities.
