Chinese investors who recently paid a courtesy visit to Akwa Ibom state have indicated interest in establishing an integrated state-of- art rice mill in the state as a means of boosting rice production.

This was made known by the Chairman of Heilongjiang Hegang Sanjiang Plain Rice Group, Heilongjiang, China, Mr. Wang Jingxin while on a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural resources, Dr. Nathan Matthew Ekaette in his office in Uyo.

He was accompanied on the visit by the Consular-General of Nigerian Embassy in China, Ambassador Ali Ocheni. The Trade Commissioner in the Embassy, Mr. A. Agboluaje stated that a rice research institute will be established in the state.

The Commissioner assured the investors of government’s preparedness to support the projects.
