10 modern cassava processing plants will soon be commissioned by the government of Akwa Ibom state.

This was made known by the Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel when leaders of some socio-cultural organisations in the state paid him a solidarity visit in Uyo on Friday.

He said his plans to revolutionize agriculture on the state will engage 10,000 youths who are currently unemployed.

While emphasizing that the state is blessed with good arable lands for agriculture, Governor Udom said he is committed to exploiting the agricultural potentials of the state.

In his words “If we don’t plant today, there may not be harvest tomorrow to sustain the people as overdependence on oil does not do the economy any good,”

He also noted that some youths in the state have been sent to Israel for training in mechanized farming.
