The Niger Delta Oil and Gas Services (NDOGS) Cooperative Agency Limited has said it would set up 18 mini refineries in the nine states that make up the Niger Delta states, with Cross River as the first state to benefit from the scheme.

President of NDOGS, Chief S.A. Idasiefiema-Obedebo, who disclosed this while speaking to journalists shortly after the executive council meeting of the group in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, said the aim was to give the people of the region the opportunity to drill, refine, and market petroleum products found in their domain.

Idasifiema-Obedebo stated that the group already have partners from USA, Germany, and Italy, who are to build the mini-refineries under public-private-partnership (PPP).

He said, “Our motive is that the oil producing communities in the Niger Delta must drill, refine, and market the products found in their communities, and we need the licences to operate. We are planning to set up refineries. Already, we have gotten overseas partners; we have in America, Germany, and Italy, who are ready to come and build refineries in each of the Niger Delta states”.
